What to expect?
Hair reduction is gradual, most patient’s start to see the reduction after one session. The number of treatments varies on the area being treated. The treatment itself is very comfortable and usually takes less than an hour.
Laser hair removal removes unwanted hair permanently by targeting and damaging the root of the hair. The laser itself is attracted to pigment or color. Assuming there is a good contrast between the skin and the hair, the laser damages the root and leaves behind a small stem. Over the next 2–3 weeks, it will appear as if the hairs are growing when actually the skin is naturally pushing this stem up and out. If you were to pull at these hairs with your fingers (not tweezers) 2–3 weeks after the treatment these hairs slide out with no resistance at all. Once these hairs fall out there will be a period where there is very little hair. With a new cycle of hair growth approximately 6 to 8 weeks for the body and 4 to 6 weeks for the face, you would be coming in for your next treatment.
The reason why you would require more than one treatment is there are different cycles of hair growth. Ideally, we want to be able to attack the hair during the active stage of hair growth (anagen stage) which is when the hair follicle has a full root. Because we don’t know which hairs are in right stage at one time, that is the only reason why you would need more than one treatment. Normally 5–8 treatments are required for best results.

What to Expect From My Laser Session?
There can be some anxiety as the appointment draws near. To help alleviate those fears, it is a good idea to learn what happens during the treatment. In many cases, a simple knowledge of what is to come will relieve anxiety, so the treatment session is as pleasant and painless as possible.
Laser hair removal treatment typically is done in a sequence of sessions that take place in four to eight-week intervals. There may be three to five appointments scheduled, depending on the area that will be treated and how effective the treatments are. The first appointment consists of a consultation with the laser specialist who will be performing the procedure. At this meeting, the patient will precisely learn what to expect from the treatment and have the opportunity to ask questions about the laser hair removal process.
At the next appointment, the area that will be treated may be shaved, and an anesthetic cream is applied to alleviate any possible discomfort. Prepare Yourself For Your Laser Treatment
1. Stop Tanning at Least a Month Before The Therapy
Avoid tanning for at least four to six weeks before you go for your laser treatment. A reasonable precaution is to always put on sunscreen lotion during this period. The reason for avoiding the sun is because the sun helps your skin produce melanin. Melanin is what makes your skin change its color; Melanin also happens to be what the laser is targeting your unwanted hair. Why? It is because melanin absorbs the laser energy and converts it into heat. If enough heat is produced, the hair follicle is destroyed. If there is too much melanin in your skin, most of the laser energy will instead be absorbed by your skin. This means that only the leftovers will be absorbed by your hair which in turn means that not enough heat will be produced in your hair follicle to destroy it.
2. Have the treated area of your skin free of cosmetics, creams or lotions
Your skin need be free of any moisturizing creams, lotions or cosmetics, at the moment of treatment. You should clean the body part to be treated. In case you might have used any antiperspirant, eliminate it before the operation.
3. Avoid supplements, discuss it with your cosmetic specialist before
Go easy on vitamin A supplements as well as ingested Beta Carotene. Ingested Beta-Carotene can usually be found in vegetables such as carrots and squash.
